| "Kau Kau Korner" famous for fine food, is located at the very center of the cross roads of the Pacific, in Honolulu at the entrance to Waikiki Beach. Opened in 1935 by H.P. "Sunny" Sundstrom it was the finest Drive In Restaurant in Honolulu being located at the corners of Kalakaua Ave. and Kapiolani Blvd. The drive-in continued to operate 24 hours a day during world war II. Kau Kau Korner finally closed in 1960. The Sundstrom family continued to operate several other restaurants for years after Kau Kau Korner's closed including a KFC operated by Hanley's wife Patricia "Patty" Sundstrom.
