My mysterious friend and collector of restaurant ware Chucky Sturm once called me the "The King of China". I don't know if I deserve that title as my collection of 8,500 plus pieces is now at 1,000 pieces.  We all know of collections that are larger or may be of more interest but I wouldn't count me out just yet.
Born and raised in Sacramento, California I continue to live in the Central Valley along side the   Sierra mountains' western slopes and at the start of the gold country. I've worked at an automotive paint store, built oval track race cars, served in the military, gone to college, taught photography, been a professional photographer, lived in and lead tours to Mexico/Central America, worked in a pawn shop, bought/sold antiques for over 30 years and I'm now a happily retired collector. I started collecting at the young age of 3 -- coins, vintage ties and sunglasses, art deco items, rare antique camera's, historical photography dating from 1839 and all forms of commercial weight vitrified china ( cafe, diner, hotel, railroad, steamship, etc.) I've also collected Coon Chicken Inn memorabilia for over 25 years and have done extensive research on the subject. I have been buying, selling and researching custom made commercial weight china for over 35 years. Traveling to most of the factories making commercial weight china I have researched the history of these factories extensively. In the process of conducting interviews I have found myself being  asked for information to complete the history of these items. While collecting I have looked at and held over 100,000 pieces of china and I'm ready for the next 100,000 pieces. Saddle up Chucky - its road trip time.
